John Lewis York opened on 10 April 2014. The 92,000 sq ft shop is John Lewis' most sustainable shop to date, featuring low-energy lighting, a roof-mounted solar energy system, and a 'Wildlife Wall' which acts as a safe habitat for passing migrating bats.
Lateral Technologies & Solutions Ltd were commissioned to provide MEP design duties utilising Building Information Modelling (BIM) as the key component through feasibility, design, procurement and construction, along with an ETM role providing a soft landing and client support after handover.
Lateral Technologies & Solutions Ltd were presented with the 'John Lewis Partnership Carbon Reduction Award', and the 'Responsible Development Innovation Award' by Nigel Keen, Property Services and Property and Development Director at The Farm Shop, Leckford Estate.
Lateral Technologies & Solutions Ltd were awarded the 'Carbon Reduction Award' for our innovative low carbon M&E design for the new John Lewis York Department Store. We were challenged to achieve a 30% reduction in the benchmark carbon figure. Currently the project has achieved a 43% reduction on the benchmark figure.
We were awarded the Responsible Development Innovation Award for our work with the project team in achieving the first BREEAM outstanding rating for a department store in the world.
In 2016 Lateral Technologies & Solutions Ltd were short-listed for two CIBSE Building Performance Awards: the 'Collaborative Working Partnership Award' and the 'Energy Management Initiative Award'. We were delighted to be awarded the 'Collaborative Working Partnership Award' in recognition of our collaborative working on energy management.
