John Lewis, Edinburgh - Refurbishment

Client: John Lewis Partnership

Sectors: Retail

Services: Low Carbon MEP Design, Architecture, Commissioning Management

John Lewis Edinburgh department store is an anchor site of the new St James Centre in Edinburgh.

Lateral Technologies & Solutions Ltd were appointed for the major redevelopment of the existing John Lewis department store as the M&E designers and commissioning management ETM. The existing store was extended and integrated into the new scheme, and John Lewis traded throughout the phased works.

The M&E services brief required extensive reconfiguartion of the existing infrastructure such as the HV/LV, ventilation, CHW and LPHW systems. The priority was to maintain the operation of the store throughout this work. This required some 'lateral thinking' to minimise disruption and maximise efficiency of the space.

The last task is the removal of the redundant chillers and boiler house from the roof.  This will take place Spring 2022
