John Lewis Edinburgh department store is an anchor site for the redevelopment of the St James Centre in Edinburgh. The complete £850 million scheme will open in 2020.
Lateral Technologies & Solutions Ltd were appointed for the major redevelopment of the existing John Lewis department store as the M&E designers and commissioning management ETM. The existing store will be extended and integrated into the new scheme, and John Lewis will trade throughout the phased works.
The M&E services brief requires extensive reconfiguartion of the existing infrastructure such as the HV/LV, ventilation, CHW and LPHW systems. The priority is to maintain the operation of the store throughout this work. This requires some 'lateral thinking' to minimise disruption and maximise efficiency of the space. Our ETM managers will follow on during the construction to ensure a soft landing approach is incorporated throughout the five year project.
