World's first indoor ski resort
Approximate construction cost: $272 million
UAE Dubai Ski Dome is located in The Mall of The Emirates and features five tracks of ski slopes complete with its own indoor weather system with ceiling mounted snow nozzles.
Lateral Technologies & Solutions Ltd was asked to review the commissioning management processes when the project entered its commissioning phase. Once the status of commissioning was established, Lateral Director Iain Gibb, representing Laing O'Rourke, was appointed to site manage the process to completion. The Dubai Ski Dome is the largest indoor ski slope in the world and was built by Laing O'Rourke as part of the 'Mall of the Emirates', Dubai's largest shopping centre. The dome was opened to the public in November 2005 and is now one of Dubai's major tourist attractions.
